Meet Dr. Mike Weldon

dr. mike weldonBrother Mike is a native Mississippian, born in Moss Point, Mississippi, July 7, 1946. He was saved while at the University of Southern Mississippi in April of 1965 and experienced the call to preach two months later. He was sanctified while pastoring his first church and attending Bible College.

In 1967 he was licensed to preach with the Association of Independent Methodists and ordained an elder in 1971.

He is a graduate of Whitworth College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He graduated from Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi in 1979 with a Masters of Arts in Religion. In 1988 Wesley Biblical Seminary honored him with a Doctor of Divinity and in 1996 he was recognized as their alumnus of the year.

In the last forty-six years he has pastored five churches in Mississippi, Florida, and Texas and is presently serving his second term as Executive Director of the Association of Independent Methodists. He served on the founding Board of Trustees of Wesley Biblical Seminary and continues to serve on that board.

His experiences in the ministry have qualified him to offer assistance in the areas of Church Growth; long range planning; Church Conflict; Revival; Camp and Conference Planning; Pastor/Church Relations; Church-Pastor Selection and Calling, and various other fields relating to Pastors and Churches.

He enjoys sharing the gospel in preaching, personal soul winning, music and humorous or heart-warming stories. His life goals are to please God, be the best husband, dad, and granddad, and bring as many people to Christ as possible.

His ministry partner for forty-three years is his wife, Marie. She has been a constant encouragement and help without which he could not have made it this far. They have two sons, Robert and Chris. Chris is married to Julie and they have a son Joshua.
